Child out of Parental Care

COPC
The Child out
of Parental Care

The Child out of Parental Care (C.O.P.C.) program was created to provide temporary financial support for children requiring alternative care.

Within the Blood Tribe, there has been a tradition of extended family members stepping in to offer this kind of care. The program’s goal is to support Blood Tribe members by providing financial assistance for the private placement of these children.

Intake
Process

1

Intake can occur through self-referrals or via contact from a caregiver.

2

A voluntary consent form is required to be signed by the child’s natural parent or legal guardian.

3

Additionally, a release of indemnity form must be signed by the child’s natural parent or guardian.

4

The C.O.P.C. worker will collaborate with other agencies, including Blood Tribe Social Development and Blood Tribe Child Protection Services, to identify and prevent any duplication of financial assistance.
